Durban University of Technology (DUT) invites applications for a Lecturer in the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies. The successful candidate will teach and assess modules, supervise research students, and contribute to curriculum development and community engagement initiatives across campuses in Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree and undergraduate study in Management/Entrepreneurship, plus at least 3 years of lecturing experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and undergraduate study in the field of Management and/or Entrepreneurship.
  • Minimum 3 years’ lecturing experience in the field of Management and/or Entrepreneurship.
  • PhD would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and assessment of modules/subjects in the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies and Management.
  • Research participation and supervision of research students.
  • Preparation and development of learning/teaching materials.
  • Involvement in curriculum development.
  • Provide academic support to facilitate student success.
  • Involvement in community engagement initiatives organized by the department/faculty.
  • Participate in Faculty and University wide activities and functions.
  • Administrative and auxiliary duties in line with the above functions.
  • Represent the department as necessary on institutional committees and professional forums.

Department of Entrepreneurial Studies

Lecturer Position: Post Number 2000118

Permanent Position

Minimum Requirements:

Lecturer

  • A Master’s degree and undergraduate study in the field of Management and / or Entrepreneurship
  • At least 3 years’ lecturing experience in the field of Management and / or Entrepreneurship
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are registered for a PhD
  • Active participation in professional, industry and or community activities

Additional Recommendations:

  • Commercial or industrial related experience
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning skills
  • Availability to work at other DUT campuses, in the evening and weekends and sometimes away from home
