Job description

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacy Stock Controller based at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital, reporting to the Inventory Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance, and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs

  1. Effective medication safety management
  2. Report % of pharmacy alerts and incidents
  3. Effective quality management systems
  4. Ensure compliance to LHC Quality management systems.
  5. Ensure compliance with SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards.
  6. Ensure customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives.
  7. Effective stock management
  8. Manage dead stock and short dated stock.
  9. Manage negative stock.
  10. Capture and handle product complaints.
  11. Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to pharmacy.
  12. Implement and maintain LHC formulary.
  13. Effective product management
  14. Participate in the active management of cost of sales.
  15. Build effective working relationships with nursing staff.
  16. Manage non-recoverable usage.
  17. Effective asset management
  18. Participate in achieving stock targets i.e. stock days, dead stock, stock variances.
  19. Have excellent stock-take knowledge with good management of short dated stock.
  20. Manage and minimize stock write-offs.
  21. Manage unreconciled liabilities.
  22. Ensure correct ordering, issuing, timeous receipting and crediting of stock.
  23. Achieve optimal system utilization.
  24. Effective people management
  25. Ensure good communication with nursing staff and doctors.
  26. Exhibit good inter-personal skills.

Requirements

  1. Grade 12 National Senior Certificate.
  2. Working knowledge of SAP.
  3. Basic accounting skills.
  4. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is essential.
  5. Medical experience is essential with hospital stock control experience.
  6. A person who is result-oriented, pays attention to detail, and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Customer focus, a commitment to continuous improvement, the ability to work independently and manage time effectively is required.
  8. Willingness to work overtime, after hours, and weekends is also required.
  9. Ability to work under pressure.
