Duties will include the following, but not limited to:

  • Oversee effective stock control of all medical and surgical items across the pharmacy storeroom, dispensary, and wards
  • Receive and check all incoming stock for accuracy; ensure correct unpacking, capturing, and storage
  • Monitor stock levels, usage trends, and expiry dates; manage reordering needs and support timely returns or write-offs of expired stock
  • Conduct regular stock counts (daily, weekly, monthly) and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded by month-end
  • Support compliance with inventory processes such as replenishments, internal/external transfers, goods receiving, and stock adjustments
  • Communicate with internal teams (nursing, finance, procurement) to eliminate redundant stock, improve standardisation, and reduce waste
  • Manage the central storeroom and assist with stock-related queries from the team
  • Prioritise daily tasks to meet operational timeframes and complete associated administrative duties
  • Provide general support and complete ad hoc tasks as required by the Pharmacy Manager

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) is essential
  • A relevant certificate or diploma in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Administration is advantageous

Experience and Knowledge

  • Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, or a similar administrative role
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Ability to understand and work with numbers, data, and stock movement trends
  • Clinic Manager / Propharm experience advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical stock control systems advantageous

Specific Requirements

  • Solid and positive written references
  • Clear credit record
  • No criminal record

Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi time between 06h30 and 18h30.
