Dis-Chem Pharmacies require the services of a reputable Pharmacist for their Thabong store. Your portfolio will cover the provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs, and being accountable for meeting these needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Min 2-3 years experience in Pharmaceutical
- 2-3 years retail pharmacy experience (Student/Intern)
Advantageous:
- Third additional language
- SAP experience
- E-scripting experience
- Registered tutor
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide pharmaceutical care by responsibly meeting patients’ medicine-related needs, including dispensing, counselling, and ensuring therapy effectiveness.
- Evaluate patient’s medicine-related needs, determine indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy.
- Dispense medicines or scheduled substances based on prescriptions from authorized prescribers.
- Check and sign off prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring correctness as per GPP standards.
- Provide information and advice regarding medicine use.
- Monitor patient compliance and follow up to meet their medicine-related needs.
- Initiate pharmacist-led therapy and supervise compounding, manufacturing, and handling of medicines.
- Manage medicine procurement, storage, and distribution in compliance with legislation.
- Handle registration applications for medicines according to the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
- Interpret prescriptions accurately, act responsibly within legal requirements, and ensure correct data entry and labeling.
- Advise patients on medication usage, medical aid procedures, and cost explanations.
- Follow up on script tracking, correct rejected scripts, and ensure authorization of chronic and special medications.
- Maintain and update customer profiles, manage stock levels, and assist with administrative functions.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, company policies, and professional appearance standards.
- Lead and train staff, manage conflicts, and work effectively under pressure.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Registered with SAPC

- Physically fit, with a valid driver’s license and reliable transport
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
