Position: Pharmacist Assistant (Qualified Post Basic, Sessional Contract)

Introduction:

A vacancy exists for a Pharmacist Assistant (Sessional) at Life Carstenhof Hospital, reporting to the Senior Pharmacist. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality pharmaceutical services, achieving financial objectives, complying with legislation, and managing people effectively to meet the required standards.

Critical Outputs

1. Supplying medication to wards and theatre based on requisitions and assisting with pharmaceutical management under supervision.
2. Controlling inventory (ethical and surgical).
3. Managing dead stock efficiently.
4. Conducting stock-takes, cycle counts, and investigating variances.
5. Processing patient credits.
6. Replenishing the emergency cupboard.
7. Unpacking ethical and surgical stock, checking expiries and invoices.
8. Adhering to security protocols.
9. Maintaining high ethical and professional standards.

Requirements

1. Grade 12 with Mathematics and Life Sciences.
2. Qualification as a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant and registration with the Pharmacy Council.
3. Relevant clinical knowledge and experience related to critical outputs.
4. Understanding of pharmacy and healthcare industry legislation and regulations.
5. Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation and products.
6. Proficiency in MS Office and Unisolve; SAP knowledge is advantageous.
7. Preference for applicants who are not permanently employed elsewhere.
