MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To ensure a comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to in-hospital patients and the public.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public.
• Ensure efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: B Pharm / B Sc Pharm / Dip Pharm

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years experience in hospital pharmacy stock management and distribution.

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Ethical and surgical product knowledge
• Relevant pharmacy legislation (e.g., Pharmacy Act; Good pharmacy practice; Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965)
• Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship
• Medical aid benefits regulations and formularies
• Knowledge and experience working with pharmacy systems (e.g., UNISOLV; AS400)
• Ethical stock control practices and principles
