Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group in Durban seeks a qualified Pest Control Operator to deliver a high-quality fumigation service, inspect sites, and determine the appropriate treatment to eliminate pests. The role requires licensing as a PCO, compliance with safety and legislation, and 2–3 years of pest control experience.

You will work with customers and ensure gas-tight areas, proper SDS documentation, and secure chemical storage.

Qualifications

• Minimum Matric is required.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of pest control legislation.
• Registered PCO with up-to-date license.
• 3–5 year pest elimination qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a quality inspection and treatment service to exceed customer expectations.
• Inspect buildings for signs of pests or infestation.

• Apply pesticides in and around buildings and other structures.
• Perform site inspections and risk assessments prior to fumigation.

• Issue fumigation and clearance certificates on completion.
• Ensure chemicals have SDS documentation and L-numbers.
• Store chemicals safely and prevent contamination.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver a quality inspection and treatment service to exceed customer expectations.
• Inspect buildings and premises for signs of pests or infestation.
• Determine the type of treatment needed to eliminate pests.
• Apply pesticides in and around buildings and other structures.
• Conduct site inspections and perform risk assessments prior to fumigation
• Prepare and seal fumigation areas to ensure gas-tight environments
• Apply fumigants according to manufacturer guidelines and legal standards
• Monitor gas levels throughout the fumigation process
• Ensure treatment areas remain restricted to authorised personnel only
• Aerate treated areas and confirm gas-free status before re-entry
• Issue fumigation and clearance certificates upon completion
• Use only approved and registered fumigation chemicals
• Ensure all chemicals have valid SDS documentation and L-numbers
• Store chemicals safely in secure and ventilated areas
• Prevent contamination by avoiding mixing incompatible substances

Skills and Competencies

• Registered Pest Control Operator (PCO) in terms of Act 36 of 1947.
• Registered and licensed to perform gas fumigation in the applicable fumigation category.
• Medically fit to work with pesticides and fumigants.
• Minimum 2-3 years' pest control and fumigation experience.
• Understand detailed Pest control principles and knowledge of company policies and procedures.
• Strong on client relationships and strong communication skills.
• Must have come from a similar environment.

Qualifications
