A prominent food manufacturing company seeks an experienced cooker in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will monitor cooking times and temperatures, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Applicants must have at least two years of experience in the food industry and a strong understanding of lean principles.
Job Responsibilities: Responsible for monitoring cooking temperature and time to ensure products are cooked to the required temperature and held for the specified time. Follow the correct product specifications indicated on the recipe and pre-loaded into the Scada system.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum 2 years' experience in manufacturing. Must have experience working in the food industry as a cooker. Must understand lean principles. Exposure to a food manufacturing environment and World Class Manufacturing techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities: Safety and Quality: Follow all safety rules and policies. Wear safety equipment and PPE. Report unsafe behaviour. Never engage in unsafe acts. Ensure products meet quality standards and production plans. Maintain accurate PCD / Summary reports on shopware. Achieve safety compliance and 5S standards. Identify hazards such as ripping/slip hazards and hot surfaces. Verify set point temperatures before sampling. Record sampling times and submit samples for analysis with proper documentation.
Operations and Equipment: Follow production instructions from the team leader. Keep the work area clean and dry. Verify ingredient weights and system additions. Ensure automatic cooking procedures are followed via Scada. Complete cooking records and print temperature/time logs. Label steritainers correctly. Verify ingredient addition and system checks. Notify sanitation for cleaning. Report downtime and achieve KPIs like OEE of 65%+ and wastage of 2% or less. Ensure stock accuracy.
Miscellaneous Tasks: Verify tools and parts, coordinate repairs, and record production progress accurately. Participate in inventory control activities and operational initiatives. Perform additional tasks as assigned. Be prepared for overtime when needed.
