Job summary

Hire Resolve is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager (2IC) to join a major group’s Head Office in Sandton. You will act as second-in-command for payroll operations, owning PaySpace system management, budgeting, and statutory submissions while supervising staff.

The role requires 8+ years payroll experience with at least 3 in a supervisory capacity, plus strong knowledge of tax and labour legislation. Onsite work in Sandton, Gauteng with a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and a relevant tertiary qualification in payroll, finance, or accounting.
• 8+ years total payroll experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Hands-on PaySpace experience with report writing.
• Advanced MS Excel and Word; strong reconciliation skills.
• In-depth Wage Determination 452, BCEA, LRA, COIDA, OSHA, POPIA, Income Tax Act knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and PaySpace configuration.
• Manage departmental payroll budgets and variances against forecasts.
• Handle statutory submissions (EMP201/EMP501, COIDA, UIF, etc.).
• Develop and refine payroll policies and workflow processes.
• Supervise staff and ensure deadlines are met; generate complex PaySpace reports.
• Prepare Employment Equity and Labour Statistics data and support audits.
