Job description

Job Description
Our client is the leading supplier of perspex/polymers in South Africa, with applications in eventing/exhibitions, architecture, farming/food production, and large-scale lighting. We are seeking a Payroll Officer to join their team.

Responsibilities

  1. Astrow System (clock card system) Administrator
  2. Approval of overtime & shift changes in Astrow System
  3. Ensure biometric unit (clock card machine) is connected and operational
  4. Maintain accurate employee master data in Astrow, including employee photos
  5. Set up Astrow System to link total hours report with VIP Payroll for uploading hours
  6. Upload hours directly from Astrow to VIP Payroll
  7. Review weekly hours in Astrow, resolve queries, and ensure accuracy for payroll processing
  8. VIP Payroll: act as super user/administrator
  9. Create new employees in VIP Payroll
  10. Process leave and payroll values in VIP Payroll
  11. Generate reports at month-end in VIP Payroll
  12. Clean up and maintain master data in VIP Payroll
  13. Capture EE & SDL data in VIP Payroll
  14. Input shifts for Leave Enhancement Pay calculations
  15. Manually distribute payslips
  16. Process consultant invoices through payroll
  17. Handle salaries and third-party payments via FIHRST
  18. Reconcile medical aid, GAP, and other supplier statements with payroll reports
  19. Manage Medical Aid & GAP Cover submissions (MEIBC Staff)
  20. Reconcile and process Provident Fund statements and withdrawals (MEIBC Staff)
  21. Submit monthly Risk Benefit Schedule to Momentum (fixed salary staff)
  22. Manage nomination and beneficiary forms for risk benefits
  23. Handle EMP201 and EMP501 submissions and queries
  24. Manage COIDA IOD and ROE submissions
  25. Process UIF applications and submissions
  26. Conduct HR inductions for new employees from a payroll perspective
  27. Prepare and update employment contracts
  28. Ensure adherence to HR policies and procedures
  29. Handle industrial relations issues, disciplinary hearings, warnings, and performance management, using third-party providers (for PE office)
  30. Manage retrenchments and related processes
  31. Implement ESS (Electronic payslips & leave submissions)
  32. Coordinate annual medicals and onboarding for new starters at PE location and other offices
  33. Participate in union and MEIBC meetings
  34. Book and manage casual staff on production lines and other locations

Requirements

Skills & Abilities

  • 6 to 10 years of payroll experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Strong attention to detail and meticulousness
