A leading company in payroll management in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee payroll policies, procedures, and records. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Sage 300 and a thorough understanding of labour laws and employee benefits administration, ensuring compliance and accuracy in payroll transactions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' payroll experience.

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain payroll policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Process payroll transactions accurately and on time, including maintaining up-to-date employee records, calculating salaries, deductions, and payroll taxes.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefits such as provident fund, GAP, medical aid, and group benefits.
  • Manage all employee records including new hires, terminations, banking detail changes, and other staff movements (e.g., maternity leave).
  • Conduct and document exit interviews for terminated employees.
  • Collaborate closely with the COO to ensure payroll transactions are correctly recorded and reflected in the company’s financial statements.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare detailed payroll reports for management review.
  • Keep abreast of changes in payroll legislation and regulations, updating policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Compile and submit year-end payroll reports and tax documentation for Safire Group, ensuring timely submissions of all statutory reports.
  • Conceptualise, develop, and implement solutions within Sage 300 People and other supporting payroll software.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of human resources, labour laws, and employee regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ payroll experience, with essential experience in Sage 300.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
