Job Title : Payroll Team Head

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timeously, whilst ensuring that procedures are in place to provide strong internal controls ensuring good governance in the payroll.
2. Maintenance of Sage People system.
3. Assisting in processing of payrolls to ensure timely and accurate payment to staff as well as to submit the necessary legislative returns.
4. Remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings influencing payroll and reporting requirements.
5. Enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on required actions.
6. Evaluate and analyse existing payroll policies and procedures; draft, propose and implement changes and/or quality control measures leading to best practice operations.
7. Process correct garnishee calculations and compliance.
8. Run the payroll interface - General Ledger, Leave provision, and 3rd party payments.
9. Balance and reconcile payroll related payments and deductions to reports produced via the VIP system prior to transmission in order to validate confirmed reports.
10. Timely review and sign off on all required payroll and tax reconciliations.
11. Prepare accurately and timely reports as required by the Finance and Human Resources Departments.
12. Responsible to resolve General Ledger queries from Finance.
13. Update all employees' Employment Equity and Skills Development information on the Sage People system.
14. Reconciliation and submission of Employee benefits.
15. Manage the interface of Employee benefits with the third parties.
16. Ensure reconciliations are done to match the records of the third parties.
17. Maintenance and accurate capturing of Leave records.
18. Advise the Human Resources Department should a problem be identified in terms of excessive sick and unpaid leave taken by an employee.
19. Prepare and submit legislative returns - SARS, SDL, and UIF.
20. SARS EMP management and compliance, e-Filing and Tax Directive Applications.
21. UIF Submissions to the Department of Labour.
22. Provide training and mentorship needed for payroll administrator.

Desired Experience & Qualification

1. Matric
2. 2-3 Years payroll experience in SAGE People
3. Computer Literate in Excel (Intermediate to Advanced)
4. Basic Accounting Knowledge
5. SA TAX & Employment Laws
6. 3rd Party Payments to Medical Aid, Unions etc.

Package & Remuneration

CTC - R50
