Job description

Overview:

Our client stands as South Africa’s largest privately owned property company, with a diverse international real estate portfolio. Their South African footprint of developments and strong real estate brands include mixed-use precincts, inclusionary housing, retirement villages and secure lifestyle estates. With their international expansions being focused in the UK and the US.

They are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to assume responsibility for the overall Company payroll, consisting of approximately 500 employees across thirteen different companies.

Payroll Specifications:

  • System: SAGE300
  • Number of employees: approximately 500
  • Payment date: 1 payment run on the last working day of each month
  • Combination of fixed monthly salaried employees, commission earner and hourly paid employees
Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all monthly payroll changes (new recruits, terminations, commission, is processed in an accurate, compliant, and timely manner
  • Perform reconciliations and produce payroll costing and variance reports (excel based)
  • Develop/create, implement, and maintain a system of robust controls, procedures and policies relating to the payroll function
  • Support the business by continuously striving to streamline processes and use technology/systems more efficiently
  • Monitor compliance to payroll legislation
  • Submit and process statutory payments such as PAYE, UIF and Workmen’s Compensation
  • Manage all payroll related administration
  • Liaise with SAGE consultants regarding technical and/or system queries as and when required
  • Work closely with the Financial Director with the payment of salaries, bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
  • Manage the timeous resolution of payroll queries by attending to escalated queries and reviewing unresolved queries on a daily basis
  • Liaise with both Medical Aid and Group Life Cover service providers
  • Liaise with auditors during audits to respond to queries and provide information




Requirements:

Education & Skills:

  • Degree in Finance/Accounting or other related Tertiary Qualification is required
Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using SAGE300
  • Minimum Payroll size of 500 Staff
  • Ability to work with Excel formulas
  • Candidate must reside within or in close proximity to the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town
