Job Description
Outsourced CFO is recruiting a Payroll Manager, who will oversee the operations of the payroll function within the Cloud Accounting Department. This role is responsible for ensuring that client expectations are met or exceeded, team members are effectively trained and upskilled, and the quality of services is maintained to the highest standard.

Job responsibilities will include, among other things:

Client Service

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to document and address client needs effectively.
  • Oversee the delivery of monthly and annual client deliverables with exceptional quality and timeliness.
  • Ensure technical oversight and compliance with payroll and tax laws and regulations.
  • Processing of monthly payroll services for key clients and internal payroll


Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the payroll team
  • Design and implement career growth plans and provide continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, offering coaching and constructive feedback.
  • Ensure processes are in place to build a culture of teamwork and excellence.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding, ensuring the hiring of top talent ("A players").
  • Ensure the process for managing and connecting with panel members is running smoothly and in place.


Planning and Administration

  • Monitor and evaluate monthly budget vs. actuals for accounting PODs, addressing variances.
  • Develop, document, and enhance operational workflows for optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to all SOPs across service offerings.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to manage retainer and ad-hoc billing processes.
  • Participate in Cloud Accounting leadership meetings, contributing insights and updates.


Business Development and Client Onboarding

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and repeat business.
  • Actively identify and pursue opportunities to develop new client relationships, contributing to the department's growth strategy.
  • Oversee the client scoping and onboarding process to ensure smooth transitions and profitable engagements.
  • Participate in sales and business development meetings, representing the Cloud Accounting department.
  • Regularly update and refine ideal client profiles, ensuring the team is aligned with the department's growth objectives.
  • Foster a culture of value-driven upselling within the team, equipping them with the skills and processes needed to identify and propose solutions aligned with client needs.


Operational and Resource Management

  • Monitor team workflow, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet deliverables.
  • Support PODs in planning and scheduling staff, ensuring clarity of roles and goals.
  • Implement and optimize technology solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee administrative tasks, including client onboarding, offboarding, and internal reporting.

  • Actively participate in company events to strengthen team engagement and morale.


Training and Development

  • Ensure team members complete scheduled training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Deliver or facilitate training on technical topics and updated deliverables.
  • Engage with the technical team for guidance on complex tasks, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Present training initiatives to the Cloud Accounting team as needed


Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will hold a Payroll Certificate or BCom Accounting Degree & 3 - 5 Years experience managing an cloud payroll practice

Salary: A market-related salary will be offered for the position depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Head Office: Cape Town City Centre, Western Cape however open to candidates based in other provinces within South Africa
