Job description

Kick-start your career in the online gaming world and experience the very latest in technology and innovation.

Who we are

We’re Super Group, the NYSE-listed digital gaming company behind some of the world’s leading Sports and iGaming brands, including Betway and Jackpot City. We’re a powerhouse built on decades of expertise and we’re changing the game for good. Our mission is to give our customers a superclass entertainment experience.

Who we’re looking for

We’re on a thrilling journey of growth and innovation, and we need passionate, driven individuals to join us. At Super Group International, every day is action-packed, and we expect you to bring your A-game. In return, you’ll find a supportive environment where your skills can flourish and your career can soar. Ready to become a game-changer? Supercharge your career with us and be part of something extraordinary.

Why we need you

We’re building experiences that wow our customers – and that starts with bold, curious people who want to do work that matters. If you’re hungry to grow, excited by impact and ready for a challenge that will supercharge your career, this could be your moment. As a Payroll Governance and Transformation Specialist, you’ll assist payroll to move beyond accurate processing and towards a controlled, automated and insight-driven function. In this evolved role you will retain accountability for core payroll accounting, while owning the payroll controls framework, driving automation under proper governance, and delivering analytics that give senior management and shareholders confidence in the numbers. You will be a key line of defence in our SOX and internal control environment, a custodian of sensitive payroll data, and a driver of business modernisation across all group payrolls. Your drive and ideas will help us move faster, improve smarter, and stay ahead of the game.

What you’ll do
  • Payroll Review Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll processing for employees, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, bonuses, deductions, and other compensations using Payspace and Workday.
  • Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax laws and other statutory obligations. Review and submit the completion of the following reports for salary sign off: summary of payroll changes; variance reports; overtime payments; loan payments and balances; and bonus payments.
  • Payroll Reconciliations Oversee salary journals from PaySpace into the ERP and monthly reconciliations (salary creditors to GL, salary control account, IRP5, employee loans to GL) and quarterly control account reconciliations in preparation for external audits.
  • Tax Filing & Escalated Queries Ensure accurate tax filing and payment per the relevant country tax laws, and act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees and management.
  • Payroll Controls Framework Own, document and maintain the end-to-end payroll controls framework across all entities, including control design, control ownership, testing evidence and a RACI aligned to SOX requirements.
  • Segregation of Duties (independence) Design and monitor controls independently of transaction input. Where you or your team process a payroll, that same payroll’s control testing and approval must be performed by a different, independent reviewer; you will document the compensating review and maintain a clear SoD matrix so that no individual both inputs and self‑approves a transaction.
  • Risk Assessment Conduct annual payroll risk assessments across all in-scope entities and jurisdictions, maintaining a payroll risk register mapping key risks to mitigating controls.
  • SOX & Internal Control Coordination Coordinate SOX and internal control activity for payroll, ensuring control operation, evidence retention and timely self‑assessment.
  • Audit Liaison & Remediation Act as the primary liaison for internal and external audit, and track control deficiencies and remediation actions to closure.
  • Continuous Controls Monitoring Design and operate continuous / automated controls monitoring to detect exceptions (duplicate payments, ghost employees, out‑of‑policy changes) before pay‑run finalisation.
  • Automation & Analytics Develop and deliver a payroll automation roadmap, identifying and prioritising opportunities to reduce manual effort across the payroll and journal‑posting lifecycle.
  • Automation Governance Ensure every automation, RPA bot or scripted routine is built and maintained under formal change control – with documented requirements, testing/UAT sign‑off, version control, and reviewer approval – so that automation does not introduce new, unmanaged control risk.
  • Automated Reconciliations & Exception Reporting Build and maintain automated reconciliations and exception reports that replace manual spreadsheet checks and surface anomalies for review.
  • Payroll Dashboards & Insight Design and maintain payroll dashboards and KPIs (cost, accuracy, timeliness, control health) in Power BI for Finance, HR and EXCO decision‑making.
  • Process Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives, standardising and re‑engineering processes across systems (PaySpace, Workday, Business Central).
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Partnering Mentor and upskill the payroll team, and partner with HR and Finance on new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, benefits and accurate cost allocation.
  • Data Protection Compliance Ensure payroll data is processed in line with POPIA, GDPR and applicable local data‑protection laws across all jurisdictions, and support any related data‑subject requests or breach reporting.
  • Access Management Own periodic user‑access reviews for payroll systems (PaySpace, Workday), ensuring access is role‑appropriate, least‑privilege and promptly revoked on role change or exit.
  • Confidentiality & Retention Safeguard the confidentiality of sensitive remuneration data and apply the correct records‑retention periods per local statutory requirements.
What you’ll bring
  • Fully functional knowledge and experience of PaySpace; working knowledge of Workday for HR and finance processes.
  • Demonstrable experience designing and operating payroll / financial controls in a SOX or equivalent internal‑control environment, including segregation‑of‑duties design.
  • Working knowledge of data‑protection requirements (POPIA and/or GDPR) and access‑management / user‑access review practices.
  • Strong understanding of tax regulations, statutory requirements and remuneration / salary‑structuring practices across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel plus data‑analytics capability (PowerBI, PowerQuery or similar) to build dashboards and exception reporting.
  • Familiarity with automation tooling (Power Automate / RPA) and an understanding of change‑control and testing disciplines for automated routines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability to identify, investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Relevant payroll qualification or Bachelor’s degree and/or SAPA membership.
  • Minimum 5 years’ hands‑on payroll experience with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, able to convey complex control and data findings clearly to varied audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, deadline management and the ability to adapt in a dynamic, multi‑entity environment undefined Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve
Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

  • Exposure to IFRS/GAAP payroll accounting and total‑cost‑of‑employment reporting.
  • Data / audit‑analytics certification (e.g. Power BI, ACL/Alteryx).
  • Experience training or coaching junior payroll team members.
