Job description

We’re on the lookout for a Payroll & Compliance Administrator to join our client's HR team in Stellenbosch. If you’re meticulous about detail, thrive on deadlines, and know Sage 300 People like the back of your hand, this could be your perfect fit.

What you’ll be doing:

As the go-to payroll and compliance expert, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing for 9 entities, supporting around 420 employees. From accurate salary runs and benefits admin to statutory submissions and audit prep, you’ll ensure our payroll operations are always compliant, on time, and running smoothly.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Handle the full payroll cycle on Sage 300 People (monthly payrolls, multiple package structures)
  • Ensure accurate processing of staff changes and timeous salary payments
  • Administer and reconcile all statutory deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, etc.) and benefit contributions
  • Prepare and submit EMP201/EMP501 returns and generate tax certificates
  • Maintain payroll records, support audits, and resolve employee queries professionally
  • Oversee COID submissions, disability claims, and UIF administration
  • Contribute to compliance tasks and payroll improvement projects

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years’ relevant payroll experience, with 3+ years using Sage 300 People
  • Strong grasp of South African payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Solid Excel and MS Office skills, with sharp attention to detail
  • Experience with benefits administration (retirement, medical aid, COID)
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous
