Job summary

A leading company in the fishing industry is seeking a Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate administration of payroll. You will manage payroll processing, report generation, and compliance with relevant legislation while being part of a dynamic team. This role demands attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, with a preference for candidates holding experience in Sage 300.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years’ experience within the payroll field.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working on Sage 300 people.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll principles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing and ensure timely payments.
  • Compile Job Costing Batches for seagoing vessels.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc reports.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

Process the organisation’s payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Create and maintain employees’ payroll records. Calculating wages and applicable deductions based on employee attendance, sickness, tax liabilities and timesheet records etc. Enter payroll information into central system for processing. Complete payroll reports. Assist with Month End processes.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Duties include but will not be limited to:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees, including data entry, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure accurate timeous calculation and payment of wages, bonuses, and other compensation components.
  • Compile on Excel Job Costing Batches for Seagoing vessels
  • Assist with Macros and Importing of Batches for Monthly pay run.
  • Sourcing information and preparing of routine and ad-hoc reports and payments

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 with 2-5 years’ experience within the payroll field
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working on Sage 300 people with Job costing modules.
  • Payroll certification will be advantageous
  • Solid knowledge of payroll principles, processes and procedures
  • Solid understanding of relevant legislation (Tax, BCEA, Employee Benefits)
  • Excel intermediate user (Pivots & Vlookups)
  • Excellent administration and good communication skills
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Detail-oriented, Proactive, Pressure resilient, Independent but needs to be a team player
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with time and attendance and multiple pay frequencies
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience within the fishing industry would be an added advantage
