Remuneration and Payroll Supervisor
We are seeking a skilled Remuneration and Payroll Supervisor to oversee our company's payroll and benefits administration. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with company policies, manage staff, and handle all payroll-related activities efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the services provided by the remuneration department meet the needs of the company and employees.
- Ensure correct and consistent application of company policies and procedures within the remuneration functions.
- Supervise the staff of the remuneration department.
- Administer and process payroll data, including new engagements, personal data changes, discharges, transfers, deductions, allowances, manual pay adjustments, and short payments.
- Calculate and pay sick leave, maternity benefits, discharge pay, and other employee benefits.
- Process payrolls and generate related reports.
- Review and approve payroll runs, update payroll databases, and ensure accurate electronic salary deposits.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns (monthly) for P.A.Y.E., U.I.F., S.D.L., and other statutory bodies.
- Handle third-party payments, maintain records, and reconcile payments and remittances.
- Maintain up-to-date leave records and perform monthly and annual reconciliations for taxes paid to S.A.R.S.
- Verify payroll documents with the manager before final approval and prepare journal entries for G/L corrections.
Timekeeping
- Maintain the time and attendance system and employee database.
- Produce and distribute attendance reports and apply corrections as needed.
- Manage clocking systems, absenteeism, overtime, and authorize related payments.
- Coordinate weekly timesheets, manage system issues, and report overtime.
Benefits Administration
- Manage the company's pension, provident funds, sick fund schemes, and disability schemes.
- Handle claims, contributions, remittances, and member queries related to benefits.
Query Handling
- Address employee and employer queries regarding payroll and benefits, providing explanations and corrections as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in Payspace, Sage Payroll, and payroll administration.
- Knowledge of SMP and payroll processing.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
