Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to manage and process payroll functions across the company using Sage VIP . The ideal candidate will also possess intermediate to advanced Excel skills to analyze payroll data and support reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for [insert number] employees on Sage VIP.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and SARS submissions.
  • Maintain payroll records, employee benefits, leave balances, and salary adjustments.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and prepare payroll journals for finance.
  • Process new hires, terminations, bonuses, and overtime.
  • Provide payroll reports and summaries to management and finance teams.
  • Handle employee payroll queries efficiently and confidentially.
  • Assist with HR / payroll audits and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and regulations.
  • Utilize Excel to create reports, pivot tables, lookups, and perform data validation.

Requirements :

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a payroll administration role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage VIP Payroll & HR (Premier or People preferred).
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of South African labour laws and tax legislation.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications :

  • Matric (essential).
  • Payroll / HR certificate or diploma (advantageous).
  • Sage VIP certification (advantageous).
