Payroll Administrator position available in Cape Town.
Our manufacturing client is looking for a Payroll Administrator with 5+ years experience. To manage and execute the full payroll function for approximately 400 employees (including both permanent and wage staff) in a manufacturing environment. Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries and wages, compliance with statutory requirements, and maintenance of payroll records.
Salary: R20 000 – R40 000 CTC (Depends on experience and qualifications).
Position type: Permanent – Office based only.
Location: Montague Gardens, Milnerton.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) essential
- Payroll / HR / Finance qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ payroll administration experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience processing payroll for both permanent and wage staff
- Experience managing payroll for a large staff complement (400+ employees)
- Proficient in payroll software (e.g., Sage, VIP, PaySpace, or similar)
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Knowledge of South African payroll legislation and statutory requirements
Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
- Administer end-to-end payroll for all permanent and wage staff (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly cycles as applicable).
- Capture, verify, and process all payroll data, including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, overtime, leave, and deductions.
- Calculate and process overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, and other variable payments.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries and wages.
Statutory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL, Compensation Fund, BCEA, and other statutory requirements).
- Prepare and submit statutory returns and reconciliations (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, etc.).
- Liaise with SARS and other statutory bodies as required.
Payroll Administration:
- Maintain and update employee payroll records and files.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and finance as required.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Administer employee benefits and deductions (medical aid, pension/provident fund, garnishees, etc.).
Time and Attendance:
- Collate and verify time and attendance data from clocking systems or timesheets.
- Address and resolve discrepancies in attendance records.
Employee Queries:
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide payslips and other payroll documentation as required.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and systems.
- Assist with payroll system upgrades, testing, and implementation.
