A leading company in the fisheries industry is seeking a Payroll Officer. This role involves reconciling payroll with accounting systems, generating payroll journals, and conducting audits. The ideal candidate should have a BCom Degree in Finance or be pursuing one, along with experience in SAGE 300 and strong analytical skills.

  • SAGE 300 experience preferred.
  • Excellent numerical and mathematical skills are necessary.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

Reconciliation of Payroll entries to the accounting system and balancing thereof. Generation of Payroll Journals for weekly and monthly processing.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Duties include but will not be limited to:

  • Analyse compensation-related data including salaries, wages, bonuses and other payroll related information.
  • Prepare ledger entries based on salary reconciliations and adjustments.
  • Review payroll inputs on Sage 300.
  • Conduct regular audits on payroll financial transactions.
  • Review accounting procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Reconciliation of all Salary, Wage and Third-party accounts and balancing thereof to the accounting ledger entries.
  • Review and report any discrepancies to the Payroll Manager.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assist with EMP201 and EMP501 reconciliation and submission to SARS.
  • Manage and reconcile all accounts payable and receivable from a salary perspective.
  • Adhoc payroll duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BCom Degree in Finance / studying towards one.
  • Excellent numerical reasoning and mathematical skills.
  • SAGE 300 people experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel user.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of employee taxes, benefits and statutory deductions.
  • Excellent understanding of the BCEA and labour legislation.
