Patternmaker and CNC Router Operator (Manufacturing)
Location: Centurion
Position overview
The incumbent would be expected to manufacture patterns, composite moulds and composite parts for the aviation industry.
The incumbent would be expected to operate a 3-axis CNC (computer controlled) router to manufacture patterns.
The incumbent would be expected to hand finish these and other patterns to a highly polished state and create composite moulds from them.
The incumbent would be expected to manufacture composite parts from these moulds using epoxy resins and wet lay-up techniques for the aerospace industry.
The incumbent would work in small teams under the leadership of a workshop manager.
Required experience
Experience in the aerospace composite manufacturing industry working with epoxy resins would be an advantage.
The incumbent must be skilled in the use of 3-axis CNC (computer controlled) routers for 3D part creation.
The incumbent must be skilled in the use of hand tools.
Capabilities
The incumbent must be capable of operating a large 3-axis or 5-axis CNC router.
Experience operating CNC machines fitted with a Masso controller would be advantageous.
The incumbent would not be expected to generate G-code or toolpaths.
The incumbent should be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
The incumbent must be able to accurately follow product manufacturing specifications and work instructions.
A working knowledge of G-code is required.
Educational Requirements
Grade 12
A recognised CNC operators qualification
