The Position

Roche in KZN has a vacancy for a Patient Journey Partner. As a Patient Journey Partner (PJP), part of a High Performance Organisation, you will be directly accountable for delivering better outcomes for patients, their community, the ecosystem, and the organization, faster. By understanding the ecosystem well and establishing partner relations with collaborators, you will identify true needs and opportunities to improve the patient journey. The focus for the PJP is on solutions that directly enhance the patient experience and drive commercial excellence.

You will be an empowered leader and the local face of Roche, partnering closely with all stakeholders involved in the patient journey within a specific therapeutic or disease area. This role is locally embedded, integrated, and functionally agnostic, meaning it does not fit into traditional Commercial/Sales or Medical Affairs categories. It has no profitability, sales objectives, or incentives.

Key Challenges
  1. You will have the decision-making authority to request Roche resources (within the affiliate and broader network) to impact the patient journey positively.
  2. You will focus on bringing the outside in by working with partners to uncover opportunities to transform outcomes faster, and bring the inside out by sharing Roche's expertise, science, and knowledge with the ecosystem.
  3. Act as a trusted partner and primary contact between stakeholders and Roche; share community needs internally, prioritize resources, and drive solutions that deliver faster outcomes.
  4. Partner with stakeholders to remove roadblocks and unlock possibilities to deliver value for patients and the community.
  5. Oversee the entire patient journey, acting as a system thinker to identify shared purposes among stakeholders, and collaborate with other PJPs as needed.
  6. Ensure excellent stakeholder experiences when engaging with Roche employees, products, and services.
  7. Steward Roche’s products throughout their lifecycle and support their appropriate use, including sharing their merits with healthcare professionals in a truthful and balanced manner.
Who you are

You demonstrate personal purpose in improving the patient journey and have a strong passion for adding value and impact to the healthcare ecosystem. With your system thinking abilities, you oversee the entire patient journey and foster shared purposes among stakeholders to co-create solutions. You are visionary, defining and embedding strategies to create better health outcomes faster, with an entrepreneurial mindset and excellent partnering skills (coaching, consulting, listening, questioning).

Required Qualifications
  • A University degree / NQF 7 (scientific, economic, or business degree). An advanced degree in Life Sciences and/or MBA is a plus.
Required Experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in the Pharma industry, ideally with related therapeutic area experience (Neurology, Oncology, Neuroscience, or Haem Oncology desirable) and in the commercial space with deep knowledge of patient journeys and disease treatments.
  • An understanding of Roche's portfolio, medical affairs, and digital innovation methodologies is also required.
