SUMMARY :

Our client is seeking an experienced Parts Buyer. You will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing vehicle repair and maintenance parts. This includes identifying parts needs, finding reliable suppliers, negotiating prices, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining accurate records. You will also manage inventory, control costs, and build relationships with vendors.

The Parts Buyer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a panel shop by managing procurement effectively.

POSITION INFO :

Key Responsibilities :

Identifying Parts Needs :

  • Review repair orders and job cards.
  • Analyze work orders to determine required parts.
  • Assess vehicle damage and determine necessary parts.
  • Forecast future parts requirements based on schedules and data.

Sourcing and Purchasing :

  • Identify reputable suppliers offering competitive prices.
  • Request and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
  • Negotiate prices and terms to secure the best deals.
  • Place purchase orders and track their status for timely delivery.

Managing Inventory :

  • Maintain accurate records of parts received, issued, and stock levels.
  • Handle returns of defective or incorrect parts.

Cost Control and Budget Management :

  • Manage purchasing within allocated budgets.
  • Seek discounts and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze costs for potential reductions.

Vendor Management :

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and ensure quality standards.

Collaboration and Communication :

  • Work with workshop, service advisors, and other departments.
  • Provide updates on order status and issues.
  • Share parts availability and pricing information with team members.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Experience with automotive parts is essential.
  • Experience in the automotive body repair industry is a plus.
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills.
