Job description

First Nations Career Specialist - Alice Springs

About the role

Working within the ARRCS First Nations Program team, ARRCS is actively seeking a First Nations Career Specialist to join us on a permanent, full-time basis.

This role offers a salary of $45.34 - $48.79 per hour (estimated $89,000 - $96,000 per annum), depending on skills and experience. Based in Alice Springs, you will primarily support new and existing trainees in developing career pathways and lifestyle plans within Aged and Disability care.

You will also advocate for First Nations communities and help maintain their connection to community. We are looking for a positive, proactive candidate eager to support the career development and lifestyle of our First Nation people.

The role requires confidence in public speaking, staff engagement, guidance, and mentorship. Interstate applicants may be eligible for relocation assistance of up to $5,000.

Skills & experience
  • Ability to speak Aboriginal language and in-depth cultural knowledge of First Nation people
  • Passion and advocacy to support First Nation people, especially youth, in career development
  • Sensitivity to the cultural needs of Indigenous communities and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, preferably in mentoring roles
  • Understanding of issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a focus on youth employment
  • Autonomous work style with sound judgment and ability to work remotely with regional management
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding communities to support traineeship programs
  • Ability to follow systems for accurate record-keeping
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to maximize positive outcomes
  • Full-time commitment (38 hours/week) on a Monday – Friday roster
