Job description

You are the first port of call for participant schools. You liaise with the teacher in charge of the programme and ensure that SHAWCO Law has a strong partnership with the schools. Additionally, you must ensure that a register is taken of students and volunteers at each session.

Duties :

  1. Liaise with Community Directors on sourcing schools. Depending on your approach and collaboration with your Director, you may work together to find suitable schools for the SHAWCO Law programme. Community Directors often have knowledge of schools that have previously hosted the programme.
  2. Shortlist schools that align with the mandate of the SHAWCO Law Programme. This process involves collaboration with your Director and team members to ensure the programme's vision is maintained.
  3. Reach out to shortlisted schools and pitch the programme. Contact the Heads of schools, including the Principal and Outreach Programme liaison. You may also need to communicate with the IT technician to facilitate smooth session operations.
  4. Meet with school Heads to discuss the programme. Once interest is confirmed, draft and send a formal confirmation letter to onboard the schools.
  5. Maintain communication with schools and your team regarding concerns, praises, developments, and updates related to the programme and weekly sessions. This ongoing communication is essential throughout your tenure as Participants Relations Coordinator.
  6. Foster good relationships as your primary role is to be the main contact point when communicating with schools. Building and maintaining positive relationships with relevant school personnel is crucial.

Requirements :

  1. Be a registered UCT law student for the current academic year.
  2. Completion of the Constitutional Law course (PBL200W).
  3. Be committed to the mission of SHAWCO organization.
  4. Have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  5. Be passionate about community development.
  6. Previous leadership experience within SHAWCO is advantageous.
  7. Maintain good academic standing.
