Job description

As a Johannesburg-based permanent part-time online ESL teacher, you'll benefit from the support of an experienced team and company resources, working from the comfort of your home.

Teachers receive extensive training on EF's sophisticated, yet easy-to-use online classroom and can participate in ongoing professional development programs.

Lesson materials are created by our academic team, allowing you to focus on connecting personally with each student in group and private lessons.

Gain valuable experience working in an international company while helping adult learners from various countries meet their personal and professional English learning goals!

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct 20- to 45-minute conversation-based group and private online lessons with adult learners.
  2. Provide after-class reports to all students, detailing their progress and recommendations for improvement.
  3. Attend ongoing training, which is essential in EF's teaching products.
  4. With experience, create your own custom lesson materials.

Home Infrastructure Requirements:

  • Uncapped Wi-Fi with minimum 20 Mbps upload/download speed.
  • Back-up power system (UPS) lasting at least 4 hours, charged and connected during load shedding.
  • Surge protector (minimum V – 50Hz).
  • Transport equipment personally, at your own cost.

All equipment must be stored securely.

Working Hours:

The role is on an ad hoc basis, scheduled according to operational needs, with shifts from Monday to Sunday, typically between 13h00 and 18h00. Hours may vary from 20 to 45 hours per week, with flexibility required.

Pay rate is R41.76 per hour, varying up to R79.24 depending on shift.

Benefits include medical aid (post-probation), discretionary bonuses, and career advancement opportunities through meeting KPIs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • South African residency with valid ID.
  • Living in Johannesburg or easy access to Bryanston office.
  • C2 level English with a neutral accent.
  • Bachelor's degree (mandatory).
  • TEFL qualification preferred; EF provides a course if needed.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Professional, energetic, and people-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Previous teaching experience is a plus but not required; other work experience is also valuable.
