The Laboratory Assistant at New York Medical College (NYMC) will be an integral member of the laboratory environment supporting medical research in important areas of focus including cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, kidney disease, the neurosciences, disaster medicine, and vaccine development. This position may involve various responsibilities including but not limited to assisting with the design and performance of experiments, documenting results, maintaining laboratory equipment and stock, and ensuring laboratory organization. The level of independence and supervision may vary based on the lab’s focus, the candidate’s experience, ability to multitask among other factors. The specific duties for the lab environment are highlighted below.
This position is in an NIH-funded lab within the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology that investigates antibiotic resistance and vaccine development for pathogenic bacteria. This position provides laboratory support for work in bacterial culture, molecular biology, protein purification and immunological assays. Assistance with animal work (mice) may be requested.
