Job description

Mahumani Incorporated is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Paralegal Secretary to join our Bloemfontein office. This role provides professional, accurate, and efficient legal support across multiple departments, with exposure to Labour Law, Commercial Law, Conveyancing, and General Litigation.

About the Role

As a Paralegal Secretary, you will provide comprehensive legal secretarial and administrative support to attorneys and clients. The role requires exceptional drafting skills, excellent knowledge of court rules and litigation processes, and the ability to manage case files from inception to conclusion. You will also represent the office in handling High Court and Magistrate’s Court procedures, appeals, and trial preparations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft pleadings, affidavits, summonses, notices, and appeal records.
  • Manage trial and motion court processes, calendars, and filings.
  • Procure default judgments, warrants of execution, and court orders.
  • Liaise with clients, courts, counsel, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure meticulous document management and compliance with court directives.
  • Provide general legal admin support including typing, scheduling, and bundle preparation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Grade 12 / N3 and a Paralegal Diploma.
  • 3–5 years’ paralegal experience.
  • Strong knowledge of litigation at High Court and Magistrate Court level.
  • Experience with AJS, Caseline, and Court Online advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Typing speed: 50 wpm, with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
