Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand has an opportunity available for a Paralegal Lease Administrator. The role involves providing legal and administrative support to leasing and property management teams. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and managing lease agreements, ensuring compliance with South African property, commercial, and pharmacy-related laws. The role also involves maintaining accurate legal documentation, supporting regulatory filings, and liaising with landlords, tenants, and legal professionals to ensure smooth lease execution and alignment with leasing mandates.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Certificate or Diploma in Paralegal or related field
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a legal or leasing environment
  • Experience in lease financial calculations, including Present Value (PV) scenarios and comparisons

Advantage:

  • Degree in Law (LLB)
  • Certification in contract management, procurement or financial analysis
  • Experience in property law, real estate or leasing
Job Responsibilities
Lease Administration and Documentation
  • Draft, review, and amend lease agreements, including offers to lease, addendums, renewals, and letters of intent
  • Ensure lease agreements comply with legal standards and internal policies
  • Review landlord agreements and recommend changes according to employer mandates
  • Track lease expirations, renewals, and maintain accurate records
  • Operate the employer’s lease management system
Legal and Compliance Support
  • Monitor lease obligations and compliance issues
  • Ensure adherence to legal standards and industry regulations, including SAPC
  • Research legal matters related to property leasing and prepare summaries
  • Draft legal notices and correspondence
  • Coordinate with external attorneys and participate in lease negotiations
Regulatory Adherence
  • Assist with legal and regulatory documentation
  • Stay updated on relevant laws such as POPIA and CPA
  • Ensure lease compliance with applicable legislation
Administrative Support
  • Support the Operations Director and leasing team
  • Maintain logs of lease-related matters and coordinate with stakeholders
  • Handle confidential information and support departmental efficiency
