Well known company in the financial services industry (investments and life insurance) requires a Para Planner to assist with New Business Development within an existing client base within Johannesburg.
The Paraplanner supports the Financial Planning Partner(s) in the data fulfilment and preparation of Financial Plans for clients.
The Paraplanner is required to collaborate closely with the Financial Planning Partner and Assistant, as well as liaising with the regional Business Development Manager when necessary. The Paraplanner takes responsibility for preparing client data, data integration, financial plan preparation, assisting with scenario planning (if competent), client reviews, records of advice, and ensuring compliance with the Company’s Endorsed Advice process.
The Paraplanner operates within the Company’s preferred Advice methodology and tool sets only.
Client data management
- Responsible for client data recording on the company’s internal CRM software (XPlan, etc.), ensuring completeness and accuracy, and creating efficient data capture methods.
- Produce comprehensive wealth position reports for clients.
- Manage joint entities on the CRM to ensure a “single view of family”.
- Combine entities for joint planning and reporting.
- Ensure complete data integration from CRM to various tools.
- Maintain data integrity and ensure completeness in all applications.
- Update client data on XPlan post-financial planning.
- Prepare data for client reviews and check data accuracy.
Financial Planning preparation & Client Reviews
- Complete necessary training on the Company’s planning tools.
- Pass competence assessments on planning tools.
- Prepare XPlan Wealth Maps and client reports at least 7 days prior to engagement.
- Draft Personal Goal Plans (PGPs) and Integrated Wealth Plans (IWP) for review and finalization.
- Ensure plans are compliant and saved properly.
- Integrate and refresh client data into planning tools.
- Work towards being confident to participate in client review meetings, as assessed by the Partner.
- Collaborate with Assistants, Product Providers, Wealth Account Managers, and Brokers to support the financial planning process.
- Attend compliance meetings and address remedial actions promptly.
Operational support for Portfolio Managers and Client Relationship Managers
- Ensure financial plans align with Portfolio mandates.
NAV, Systems & KPIs
- Maintain client records and tasks in XPlan for compliance.
- Ensure proper record-keeping and data storage.
- Understand NAV data to support the team.
- Monitor KPIs and seek guidance for improvement.
- Use reports to identify client opportunities.
Client management and marketing support
- Attend client events and host clients at marketing events.
- Serve as a primary contact for clients during the financial planning process.
Knowledge & Competencies
- Understanding of the Financial Services Industry, FAIS, and FICA legislation.
- Financial planning fundamentals and product knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, XPlan, IWP & PGP (advantageous).

Qualifications and Experience
- 3-5 years in the financial services industry.
- Relevant tertiary education or courses.
- Exposure to financial planning required.
