Job summary

Kabstrading Co in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, is seeking a capable vehicle service technician to perform post-repair road tests and ensure safety under normal driving conditions.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using scanners, multimeters, and manual inspection, and carry out brake system repairs to restore safe operation. This role also covers engine overhauls and surface prep for spray painting to factory standards.

Responsibilities

• Test-drive vehicles after repairs to verify that issues have been properly resolved and the vehicle performs safely under normal driving conditions.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic scanning tools, multimeters, and manual inspection techniques.
• Carry out brake system repairs including machining or replacing brake discs and pads, repairing calipers, and bleeding brake lines to restore safe operation.
• Conduct comprehensive engine overhauls involving disassembly, inspection, repair or replacement of worn components, and reassembly of engines.
• Prepare vehicle surfaces for spray painting by sanding, masking, applying primer and filler, and ensuring a flawless finish matching factory standards.
