Overview

Packhouse Manager (Presort­ing) — Fruitways is a leading agri-business in South Africa. We specialise in the growing, packing and marketing of apples and pears to retailers, traders and wholesalers around the globe. Fruitways has an opportunity for a Packhouse Manager at Melpack Packhouse, Vyeboom. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the efficient pre-sorting operations of the packhouse. This role requires strong organisational skills, analytical thinking, and proven leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the pre-sorting planning and production processes to ensure order fulfilment according to market specifications.
  • Monitor and check that relevant quality controls are in place, adhere to and meet customer expectations.
  • Manage and monitor that all relevant health and safety protocols and standards are adhered to according to HACCP/BRC and company regulations.
  • Manage and maintain effective relationships with employees, union members and shop stewards.
  • Lead, manage and motivate a team of production personnel, monitor productivity, and ensure continuous improvement of the production department.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production environment, with an additional 1-2 years management experience in an organised labour environment.
  • A National Diploma in Production Management or Industrial Engineering.
  • Computer literate and knowledge of operational management systems.
  • The ability to communicate effectively on all levels.
  • Leadership ability to grow and develop team of Line Managers and Supervisors.
  • Strong analytical skills.
