Job summary

Accountancy Placements Pietermaritzburg is seeking a skilled packaging designer to drive artwork from concept to print-ready files for FMCG products in South Africa.

The role requires a degree or diploma in Graphic Design or related field and at least 5 years of graphic design experience with packaging. Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, and strong knowledge of print production and labeling compliance are essential. A strong packaging portfolio is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Packaging Design, or related field.
• 5+ years graphic design experience, including at least 3 years packaging design experience (FMCG/food industry experience - preferred)
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; strong understanding of print production and labeling compliance.

Responsibilities

• Design packaging artwork from concept to print-ready artwork.
• Create 3D mock-ups and renders for pre-production visualization.
• Liaise with printers and suppliers regarding dielines, bleed, colour profiles, substrates, and print specifications.
• Ensure packaging designs comply with labelling requirements, including ingredients, nutritional information, allergens, and barcodes.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines across product launches, updates, and rebrands.
• Support the design of point-of-sale, promotional, and marketing collateral as required.

• Create 3D mock-ups and renders to visualise packaging during the pre-production stage
• Liaise with printers and suppliers regarding dielines, bleed, colour profiles, substrates, and print specifications
• Ensure packaging designs comply with relevant labelling requirements, including ingredients, nutritional information, allergens, and barcodes
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines across product launches, updates, and rebrands
• Support the design of point-of-sale, promotional, and marketing collateral as required
