Job description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a Packaging Designer at our head office in Midrand. You will be responsible for developing packaging for the Dis-Chem Private Label range, ensuring all design requirements are met from start to finish. You will oversee research and development of private label products to ensure they are innovative, creative, and industry-specific, enhancing the product range.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 - Matric or Senior Certificate
  • Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Packaging Design and Graphics

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Generating new packaging designs based on briefs
  • Ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements
  • Creating print sample proofs
  • Considering product characteristics and environmental factors
  • Developing initial design concepts and communicating with departments
  • Managing projects independently to ensure timely delivery
  • Adhering to CI guidelines and maintaining packaging specifications
  • Conceptualizing designs for new and rebranded products

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Liaising with NPD, Category Managers, Suppliers, and Management
  • Ensuring quality compliance and effective communication
  • Maintaining partnerships and integrity in transactions

Time and Research Management:

  • Managing timelines and prioritizing tasks
  • Researching industry standards and innovations
  • Considering environmental sustainability in designs

Design and Administration:

  • Creating and proofreading designs and proofs
  • Maintaining organized records and files

Teamwork and General Conduct:

  • Collaborating effectively with team members
  • Respecting company policies, health and safety standards, and appearance policies

Competencies:

  • Strong industry skills and innovative thinking
  • Excellent communication in English
  • Accountability and decision-making abilities
  • Efficient project management and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
