Qualifications

Job description

The Packaging Analyst will be responsible for the design and development of returnable and specialised packaging solutions. The designs and detailed drawings will be created using AutoCAD Inventor, with drawings in both 2D and 3D formats. Overseeing the manufacturing process is critical to the success of every design project, and as such, it will require effective project management and regular site visits.

The Packaging Analyst will also be responsible for research and development, technical specifications, manufacturing practices and process control, product specification and graphic design, regulatory knowledge, materials procurement, and project management from design conceptualisation to product implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and Development

  • Set high standards and ensure thorough attention to detail.
  • Make logical, impactful decisions considering business resources, legislation, and budgets.
  • Develop detailed Scope of Work documents through client interaction and specifications.
  • Design packaging solutions using AutoCAD Inventor; present final solutions to clients.
  • Plan and coordinate design and development activities, including prototypes and production samples.

Cost Accounting and Procurement

  • Facilitate effective communication across departments and suppliers.
  • Define project costs with feasibility analyses and consolidate costs with material specifications for review.
  • Support Business Development with design and material specifications.

Project Management

  • Ensure effective communication with manufacturing facilities; update 2D/3D designs as needed.
  • Plan and manage manufacturing activities, procurement, and resource allocation to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor progress, set actionable plans, and adapt to changes.
  • Negotiate and obtain approvals on designs, prototypes, and production samples.
  • Advise on efficient packing, innovative materials, and safe handling practices.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

  • High School (Grade 12), with a relevant tertiary qualification.
  • National Certificate: Multi-Disciplinary Draughting (N5), or
  • National Diploma: Structural Steel Work Detailing (NQF 5), or
  • Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
  • At least 2 years of Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) and/or Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Experience in the design, development and manufacturing of Returnable Packaging Solutions will be an added advantage.
  • 2D/3D CAD Design Software Autodesk Inventor Preferred.
  • Project Management.

  • Traveling throughout South Africa.
  • Own Transport is an inherent requirement.
