Overview and Purpose of the Role:

Our product offerings have grown significantly, leading to the development of the face-to-face channel. The OUTsurance Broker position has emerged to facilitate this model. The incumbent will be responsible for growing and developing the business insurance portfolio.

The key outputs for this role include:

  • Generating new business sales
  • Client service and management

Responsibilities:

  • Build your own insurance portfolio through prospecting, networking, cold calling, and door-to-door canvassing
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients
  • Conduct comprehensive risk evaluations for clients
  • Provide solutions by selling OUTsurance short-term products tailored to client needs
  • Draft, track, and measure personal business plans
  • Offer ongoing service and support to clients (amendments, renewals, claims, etc.)
  • Retain existing business, including renewal discussions in line with FAIS
  • Develop internal and external client relationships
  • Continuously build your client base to secure future income
  • Stay informed about market changes and developments in commercial insurance
  • Consistently achieve or exceed targets
  • Provide feedback to management when requested
  • Attend all team meetings
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders such as underwriting, actuarial, claims, and surveying teams
  • Adhere to quality standards and measures

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completed Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • FAIS credits or full insurance qualifications (depending on DOFA)
  • RE5 (depending on DOFA)
  • Own reliable transport
  • Valid code B driver’s license
  • At least 3 years of external sales experience (if not from insurance)
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written)

Reporting Lines:

The OUTsurance Broker reports directly to the Regional Manager and collaborates closely with the wider Face-to-Face channel.
