Job Description

Overview and Purpose of the Role: Our business product offering has grown significantly, leading to the development of the face-to-face channel. The OUTsurance Broker position has emerged to facilitate this model. The incumbent will be responsible for growing and developing the business insurance portfolio.

The key outputs for this role include:

  1. New Business sales
  2. Client service and management
  3. High-level performance

The OUTsurance Broker must align with the company's culture and values of Awesome Service, Passionate, Honest, Human, Dynamic, and Recognition.

Responsibilities
  • Build your own insurance portfolio by prospecting for new clients through networking, cold calling, and door-to-door canvassing.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk evaluations for clients.
  • Provide solutions by selling OUTsurance short-term products aligned with client needs.
  • Draft, track, and measure personal business plans.
  • Provide ongoing service and support to your client base (amendments, renewals, claims, etc.).
  • Retain existing business, including renewal discussions in line with FAIS.
  • Develop internal/external relationships with clients.
  • Continuously build your client base to secure future income.
  • Stay updated with changes and developments in the commercial insurance market.
  • Achieve or exceed targets consistently.
  • Provide feedback to management when requested.
  • Attend weekly and ad hoc team meetings.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders such as underwriting, actuarial, claims, and surveying.
  • Adhere to all quality standards and measures.
Qualifications
  • Completed Matric or National Senior Certificate
  • FAIS credits / Full Insurance Qualifications (depending on DOFA)
  • RE5 (depending on DOFA)
  • Must have reliable transport and a valid code B driver’s license
  • At least 3 years of external sales experience (insurance industry experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Strong numerical and mathematical skills

  • Self-starter with confidence and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work independently and in a team

Additional Information

In line with OUTsurance's Employment Equity goals, preference will be given to individuals from designated groups who meet the job requirements. The OUTsurance Broker reports directly to the Regional Manager and works closely with the wider Face-to-Face channel.
