Job description

Takealot, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Outbound Manager to join our team in Johannesburg.

The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive administrative support to our Springbok branch. This role is responsible for handling essential administrative tasks to ensure smooth and efficient branch operations. The successful candidate will support daily activities, maintain accurate records, coordinate office functions, and assist the team in meeting objectives.

The position reports to: GM Operations.

Your responsibilities may include:
  1. Overall management and coordination of all warehousing functions in the Outbound area.
  2. Managing outbound operations including inventory management, picking, packing, staging, and dispatching of stock.
  3. Ensuring returned damaged stock is processed and ready for collection on time and in full.
  4. Introducing and maintaining daily productivity metrics to ensure staff efficiency.
  5. Collaborating with other departments to coordinate outbound activities and ensure timely delivery of goods to customers.
  6. Implementing process and operational improvements within the return-to-supplier function.
  7. Conducting strategic reviews of departmental KPIs and SLAs.
  8. Managing daily, weekly, and monthly commercial reporting.
  9. Liaising with other departments to optimize workflow activities.
  10. Collaborating with line managers to identify staff training and development needs.
  11. Demonstrating, training, and enforcing operational best practices.
  12. Coaching staff to meet and exceed performance expectations in quantity, quality, timeliness, and efficiency.
  13. Identifying areas for improvement and reporting to GM Operations.
  14. Managing performance of all staff within the department.
  15. Training and supporting understanding of operational KPIs.
  16. Working on ad hoc projects and events.
  17. Preparing management reports.
  18. Collaborating with project and operations managers.
Qualifications and attributes:
  • Tertiary qualification or diploma preferred in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or Commerce.
  • 3-5 years of field experience in operations.
  • Experience in stock management.
  • Full understanding of WMS applications, troubleshooting, and reporting dashboards.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a management role in operations.
