About the Role (MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE OD EXPERIENCE; NO CHANGE MANAGEMENT NEEDED):

Blue Semper Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Organisational Design Specialist to support the design and implementation of an operating model for an operational department. This 2-month contract role for the design phase will focus on delivering key organisational design components that align with transformation objectives. (Implementation to follow on acceptance of the operating model design).

The successful candidate will join an existing organisational design team and will support the designing of a macro and micro-organisational structure, related job profiling, workforce transition planning, and role clarification, ensuring that the department is optimally designed to enhance governance, efficiency, and value realisation.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Develop a macro structure including level 2 reporting lines and mapped capabilities.
  • Design and refine a conceptual microstructure (levels 3 and 4) within a matrix construct to ensure clarity in role alignment.
  • Create initial job profiles and performance contract frameworks for key roles in the macro structure.
  • Develop job profiles and performance contracts for all roles within the structure.
  • Conduct an indicative structural cost analysis, outlining workforce resource requirements and financial implications.
  • Define a workforce transition approach and plan, ensuring minimal disruption to existing operations during implementation.
  • Develop an implementation plan to operationalise the structure, ensuring seamless implementation of the operating model.
  • Create supporting documents and templates to assist in workforce transition planning.
  • Conduct a job impact assessment to identify potential workforce and role changes and define mitigation strategies.
  • Provide role clarification documents to drive accountability and clarity within the new structure.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in organisational design, operating model development, or business transformation.
  • Expertise in macro and micro-organisational structuring, job profiling, and performance management.
  • Experience with workforce transition planning, role clarification, and cost analysis.
  • Consulting or enterprise transformation experience preferred.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Duration: 2 months
  • Location: Hybrid (Remote & On-site in Johannesburg, South Africa)
  • Start Date: early May 2025
  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
