Placements24 seeks a talented Research Chemist with a PhD in Organic Chemistry to join its state-of-the-art facility in Klerksdorp. You will design, synthesize, and purify novel organic compounds with potential therapeutic applications within a collaborative drug discovery team.

The role requires hands-on experience with a broad range of reactions and purification techniques, plus strong analytical skills (NMR, MS, IR).

Qualifications

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or closely related field.
• Proven track record in synthetic organic chemistry with publications/patents.
• Hands-on experience with wide range of organic reactions and purification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic routes for novel organic molecules.
• Perform organic reactions including cross-couplings, chiral synthesis, and heterocycle formation.
• Purify synthesized compounds using chromatography (column, HPLC) and crystallization techniques.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using NMR, MS, and IR spectroscopy.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks documenting procedures and results.
• Collaborate with other chemists and researchers to advance drug discovery projects.
