Purpose of the Role

The role works as part of a shift-working team ensuring operational workflows required by live services are maintained.

An Operations Technician (OT) will undertake defined support processes within a workflow and will either resolve issues or escalate following a defined process.

You will work closely with the Engineering Operations team that manages servers and output remotely.

Key Responsibilities and Impact
  • Operational workflow expertise: Understanding at least one end-to-end workflow, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to standards.
  • Issue identification & resolution: Monitoring support structures, fixing or escalating issues promptly, and initiating appropriate responses.
  • Stakeholder awareness & collaboration: Understanding stakeholder requirements, prioritizing tasks under guidance, and following instructions effectively.
  • Compliance & documentation: Logging activities accurately, staying informed on operational changes, and maintaining health and safety compliance.
  • Continuous improvement & risk management: Supporting process enhancements, completing risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to BBC standards.
Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end workflows, their technical components, and interdependencies.
  • Problem-solving and issue detection skills, with experience overcoming operational challenges and applying fixes.
  • Technical proficiency with high computer literacy, effective administrative skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience in customer-facing or live support roles.
  • Familiarity with BBC health and safety standards, escalation processes, and media/creative environments.
