An opportunity has become available for a high-caliber Operational Supervisor (Contract Supervisor) in Operations. They play a critical role in coordinating activities, ensuring operational efficiency, and supervising a team of employees to achieve operational goals. They initiate, plan, coordinate, motivate, and supervise the operational activities in a division of the terminal/depot, which could dispatch its products by rail, road, and pipeline. Ensuring that all customers receive efficient, timely deliveries of products/goods.

Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Logistics/Transportation Management
• Code EB driver’s license; EC driver’s license is an advantage
• Minimum 2 years in a senior supervisory position in the Transport Industry
• Minimum 7 years in a supervisory position
• Computer literate with advanced skills in MS Excel
• Knowledge of NBCRFI Main agreement
• Technical knowledge regarding tyres and vehicle maintenance
• SHEQ experience in the Transport Industry
• Familiarity with Mix Telematics and DriveCam systems
• Understanding of transport economics and finances
• Driven to achieve production targets and uphold high standards
• Ability to communicate with, supervise, and motivate employees to meet targets

Duties & Responsibilities

• Overseeing routing and scheduling of delivery vehicles
• Briefing and debriefing of operational staff
• Conducting daily meetings with clients
• Ensuring fleet is maintained and in optimal condition to operate under pressures
• Ensuring timely fleet roadworthiness tests and valid licenses
• Conducting SHEQ tasks, toolbox talks, committee meetings, SHE inspections, etc.
• Liaising with mechanical workshops, clients, suppliers, regional management, and head office
• Supervising on-site suppliers
• Ensuring compliance with NBCRFI main agreement
• Managing staff wages and overtime
• Monitoring vehicle fuel consumption
• Controlling onsite fuel bowser
• Reviewing Mix Telematics reports and taking necessary actions
• Coaching DriveCam events and taking necessary actions
• Optimizing fleet and staff utilization to meet operational targets
• Processing operational administration accurately and promptly
• Cost control, reviewing quotes and invoices
• Monitoring CPKs and reviewing income statements
