Operations Manager (Plant Hire / Earthmoving), Kempton Park, R neg + ben
- 5–10 years of experience in operations within plant hire, mining, or construction
- Proven leadership over multiple sites and large staff teams (30+)
- National Diploma or Degree in Operations / Engineering / Logistics
or) Trade-tested artisan with strong management experience
- Strong knowledge of yellow machines, site admin, fuel / downtime control
- Fluent in English and able to write clear reports
- Proficient with Excel, SharePoint, and mobile communication tools (WhatsApp, Teams)
- Willing to travel weekly and sleep out when necessary
DUTIES
Site Performance and Execution
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all national sites
- Ensure production targets and client deliverables are met on time
People Management
- Manage and discipline site supervisors, mechanics, operators, and admin staff
- Conduct site visits and performance audits
Strategic Support
- Assist in planning and developing the Johannesburg head office
- Help define SOPs, staff structures, and reporting flows for HQ integration
Fleet and Asset Oversight
- Liaise with Fleet Manager and Workshop teams to track and minimise downtime
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce SHEQ standards and participate in site safety reviews
- Ensure safety incidents are reported immediately to the correct groups
- Conduct toolbox talks and initiate disciplinary actions for unsafe practices
Reporting and Communication
- Submit weekly operational performance reports to the Director
- Identify risks, inefficiencies, and areas for cost reduction
- Manage and standardise site documentation, reporting tools, and communication channels
