Job description

Our dynamic client is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to organise and oversee the design and manufacture of our wide range of steel products.

Responsibilities

  1. Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
  2. Oversee and lead the design process to ensure delivery of high quality, cost-effective, and timely solutions aligned with business needs.
  3. Organise workflow to meet specifications and deadlines.
  4. Monitor and drive production to achieve deadlines and continuous improvement, resolving issues as they arise.
  5. Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel.
  6. Determine necessary resources (workforce, raw materials, etc.).
  7. Maintain acceptable levels of housekeeping within the production environment.
  8. Coordinate with maintenance personnel for scheduled maintenance, equipment specifications, and procurement.
  9. Continuously improve product quality.
  10. Enforce and develop health, safety, and environmental systems in collaboration with the SHEQ Co-Ordinator to meet relevant standards.
  11. Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives.
  12. Define, propose, and implement monthly and annual production targets and plans.
  13. Analyse budgets, control production costs, and identify waste to rectify inefficiencies.
  14. Manage all activities within the production process, including maintenance and workforce management.
  15. Create and implement organisational and production changes to optimise operations.
  16. Drive business growth by implementing changes to enter new markets.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

  1. Proven experience in production management, ideally within the steel industry.
  2. Experience in designing for customer-specific applications and product development.
  3. Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  4. Knowledge of legal aspects related to labour, manufacturing, and design.
  5. Experience in performance evaluation and reporting on key production metrics.
  6. Ability to identify problems and implement preventative strategies.
  7. Excellent collaboration skills with departments and external partners.
  8. Results and deadline-oriented mindset.
  9. Outstanding communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  10. Experience in HR management and recruitment within an operational role.
  11. Flexibility to adapt to business needs.
  12. Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
  13. Proficiency in MS Office, ERP, and manufacturing systems.
