SUMMARY:

An established manufacturer is seeking a hands-on and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee daily production and operational functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective manufacturing of a range of biological products, while maintaining safety, quality, and cost control.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a National Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Agriculture, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably in food and beverage processing, chemicals, or biologicals and agricultural industries
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Experience working with batch production systems and quality management processes is essential
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities
  • Experience in biological/agricultural/life sciences inputs or similar technical products is advantageous
  • Must have familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Good understanding of production planning, safety standards, and quality systems
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Proficient in MS Office and manufacturing ERP systems

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to quality control and logistics.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, occupational health and safety standards, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.
  • Managing production schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
  • Collaborating with the R&D and technical teams to support new product integration and process optimization.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Leading and developing a team of supervisors, technicians, and operators; providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Managing raw material inventory, production planning, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Developing and managing departmental budgets and cost control strategies.
  • Ensuring equipment and infrastructure are maintained and serviced to avoid downtime.
  • Fostering a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and teamwork.
