Our client based in Ottery, Cape Town is looking to appoint an Operations Manager.
Requirements:
Has a proven track record of at least 8 to 10 years in operations management and at least five years managing the operations function of a manufacturing concern.
Tertiary manufacturing qualification (preferably a degree in and post-graduate management studies)
Experience with implementing World Class and lean manufacturing tools
Experience implementing Quality Management Systems (preferably ISO 9001)
Experience with implementing operations strategy, goals and objectives in a global operation
Experience managing orders in line with working capital targets
Experience managing the performance of team members in line with agreed targets
Experience managing discipline and grievances in an operations environment
Strong accountability, and goal orientation
Ability to inspire, motivate and influence others to deliver
Experience with maximising operational efficiencies and implementing plant automation projects
Experience with new product development and bringing new products to market would be to your advantage
Key deliverables of the role:
Implementation of the operations strategy, goals and objectives
Lead the operations function through the demonstration of strong leadership behaviours
Manage in line with world-class manufacturing principles and practices
Control manufacturing costs in line with agreed budgets
Recommend budget savings, improved efficiencies and waste reduction measures
Manage shop floor relationships to maximize productivity
Build, develop & improve the team’s performance through streamlining processes and procedures
Manage performance of team members including regular feedback against objectives, implementation of development plans and the development of a regional succession plan for key roles in the team.
Lead the team by example to set & sustain high standards of integrity and performance
Support the Board of Directors in ensuring compliance with the various statutory regulations including the Labor Relations Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
