SUMMARY :

Responsible for managing the Operations Team in Johannesburg.

POSITION INFO :

One of our clients in the Freight Forwarding industry has a vacancy available for an Operations Manager to join their dynamic team. As the Operations Manager, you are personally responsible for managing the Operations Team in Johannesburg. The team consists of: operational staff, invoicing staff, and customs clearance staff.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Responsible for day-to-day operational, forwarding, and customs clearing management of Johannesburg and all responsibilities associated with the position.

Key tasks and performance criteria (subject to change) :

  1. Ensure the smooth running and coordination of the operational team in Johannesburg, including forwarding, clearing, import, export, air, sea, and road.
  2. Maintain and develop operational processes and guidelines, improving and evolving them to enable growth.
  3. Monitor and optimize the utilization and performance of resources.
  4. Develop and maintain best practices with quality controls.
  5. Support internal role players such as sales, servicing, and management.
  6. Create an environment of innovation through motivation, training, support, and team building.
  7. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  8. Perform all activities in line with company procedures, policies, and corporate governance.
  9. Provide weekly and monthly reports and attend management meetings.
  10. Maintain relations with various stakeholders (government departments, carrier representatives, transporters, depots or handling agents, SAAFF, etc.).

Additional Responsibilities :

  1. Risk management, crisis management, and project management.
  2. Maximize customer satisfaction through cooperation and quality service.
  3. Be available and able to assist outside normal office hours.
  4. Support team members during absences or as required.
  5. Assist in procuring and acquiring new suppliers with approval.
  6. Contribute to growing and developing the business.
  7. Perform any other lawful instructions issued by management.
  8. The company reserves the right to add additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements :

  1. Conversational English language skills are essential.
