About the Role

Our client, a leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to lead its distribution center operations in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This pivotal role demands a proactive leader to oversee daily warehouse operations, optimize logistics, manage inventory, and ensure the efficient and timely distribution of products to meet customer demands. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in logistics and operations management, particularly within the FMCG sector, and a proven ability to drive efficiency and cost savings. This is a critical opportunity to manage and enhance the operational capabilities of a key distribution hub for our client.

Key Responsibilities Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping. Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. Ensure optimal inventory management, including cycle counts, stock accuracy, and loss prevention. Oversee the maintenance and utilization of warehouse equipment and facilities. Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse staff to achieve operational goals. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the warehouse. Collaborate with the supply chain and logistics teams to optimize transportation routes and schedules. Implement and manage warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed. Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operations. Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in operations or warehouse management, with a significant focus on the FMCG industry . Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency and reducing costs in a high-volume distribution environment. Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control principles. Experience in leading and developing teams, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance in a warehouse setting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant operational software. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Vereeniging, Gauteng .
