Job description

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational aspects of our importation, production, warehousing, and distribution processes. This includes supply chain management, compliance with legal and quality standards, and efficient workflow coordination to ensure that customer expectations and business goals are met. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager provides leadership and direction, promotes operational excellence, and cultivates a culture of high performance and accountability across departments.
Key Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
•Oversee all import, production, warehousing, and distribution operations in line with company strategy and vision.•Coordinate freight forwarding, customs clearance, and compliance with SABS/SANS and NRCS standards.•Control and reconcile inventory, stock levels, and warehouse organization through regular cycle counts and ERP updates.•Develop and implement standard operating procedures for optimal workflow and efficiency.•Lead operational risk management, safety audits, and preventative maintenance activities.•Conduct cost-benefit analysis on supply chain and implement efficiency improvements.•Ensure financial control of operations through budgeting, cost tracking, and variance analysis.•Recruit, train, and manage operational staff with a focus on performance, accountability, and professional development.•Produce regular operational reports and KPIs to support executive decision-making.•Resolve internal and external customer service issues with urgency and professionalism.Attributes and Behavioral Requirements:•Meticulous attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.•Strong organizational and time management abilities with a goal-oriented mindset.•Professional, well-groomed, courteous, and composed under pressure.•Adaptability to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.•Strong integrity, judgement, ownership, and pride in quality work.•Proactive problem-solving and quick decision-making.•Excellent communication, networking, and presentation skills.•Trustworthy, ethical, accountable, and respectful.•Self-motivated and capable of working independently and collaboratively.•Positive, energetic attitude and a strong work ethic.•Willingness to work flexible hours and accommodate urgent tasks.

•South African citizen and ID, residing in Johannesburg.•Matric essential with a qualification in Operations Management, Logistics or a related field (preference for tertiary education).•Current, valid South African driver’s license and reliable transport.• 5-10years’ proven experience managing operations, production, and logistics teams (50+ employees), ideally in the electrical or lighting industry.•Strong electrical product background with contactable references.•Knowledge and compliance with OHASA and relevant legal/statutory requirements.•Experience managing supplier, shipping, and customer relationships.•Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SYSPRO preferred), and reporting tools.
